Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 31 – As of 31 October 2019, at least 221 former officials and activists of the court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) confessed to authority that they would not join Sam Rainsy’s treason plan. They also defected to the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, according to senior official of General Commissariat of National Police on Thursday.

The same source added that 46 others were arrested timely and faced legal actions.

The authority's actions came after former opposition leader Sam Rainsy and accomplices announced to launch coup against the legitimate Royal Government of Cambodia and insulted the kingdom's monarchy.
