Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 18 – Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced former opposition leader Sam Rainsy and two other accomplices to 20 months imprisonment following a hearing on Friday, senior court official told Fresh News on 18 October 2019.
Sam Rainsy, ex-CNRP lawmaker Ho Vann, and former party member Kak Komphear were charged with insult and incitement for crimes leading to social insecurity; they were sentenced to 20 months imprisonment.
On the same day, the court also sentenced Kong Mors to 18 months, charged with incitement and insulting the prime minister.
However, only Kong Mas, former opposition activist from Svay Rieng province, was present at the hearing. Sam Rainsy, Ho Vann, and Kak Komphear already escaped.
