Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that court will take action against former opposition leader Kem Sokha's treason case without any exemption.
The statement was made when outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Cambodia Donica Pottie paid a farewell call to the premier on Friday at the Peace Palace.
“Kem Sokha is currently under court’s control. After investigation, the court will open the hearing in accordance with the laws,” Delegate Minister Sri Thamrong quoted the premier.
“Cambodia must implement her laws on any individual, whether they are normal citizen or politician. Everyone must respect the Constitution and laws of Cambodia,” the Premier stated.
In terms of democracy, Prime Minister informed the Ambassador that Cambodia’s democracy is on the right track, as evidently outlined during the 2018 elections, where many political parties participated.
The premier stressed that peace remains the most important factor for Cambodia.
“Without peace, no need to mention other issues,” he underlined.
