Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 18 – Minister for Asia and the Pacific at Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom Heelther Wheeler MP highly praised Cambodia’s rapid development under the wise leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has brought peace and stability to the kingdom.
Her statement was made on Tuesday evening in a tea meeting with First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) Ly Thuch, held at the residence of the UK ambassador to Cambodia.
The UK minister also expressed satisfaction with mine clearance activities and the removal of explosive remnants of war in Cambodia.
Ly Thuch thanked the UK Government and People for their support in Cambodia in the field of mine actions from 1992 until today.
He stated that the assistance has been contributing greatly to saving the lives of Cambodian people and promoting their quality of livings.
Ly Thuch also requested the UK to continue assisting in moving toward a mine free kingdom 2025, in line with the implementation of National Strategic Plan for Mine Action 2018-2025.
In response, Healther Wheeler MP accepted the proposal.
