Phnom Penh (FN), May 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen requested the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to inform its 57 member countries worldwide to purchase Cambodian products, addressing at the Ramadan Iftar Dinner of Cambodian Muslim held in Koh Pich on Tuesday.
"We want these [OIC member] countries to buy rice and goods from Cambodia. Secretary-General of OIC, please help inform those member countries to purchase goods from Cambodia, including Halal, which is also needed by Muslim," he added.
The Premier also urged OIC countries to help train human resources in Cambodia by providing scholarship to Cambodian students as well as recruiting Cambodian workers.
OIC is an international organization founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states, with a collective population of over 1.8 billion as of 2018 with 53 countries being Muslim-majority countries.
The organization states that it is "the collective voice of the Muslim world" and works to "safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony".
