Phnom Penh (FN), April 24 – Cambodia has played an important role in regional stability and has been a good friend to ASEAN member countries, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chen Yuan told Prime Minister Hun Sen in a courtesy call on Wednesday at the Peace Palace, according to delegate minister Kao Kim Hourn.

“Cambodia plays critical role in regional peace and stability by being good friends to ASEAN and China,” Chen Yuan stated.

He pledged to assist Cambodian economy in order to play bigger role in Indochina and ASEAN.

Chen recommended the Premier to allow Chinese Yuan circulating in Cambodian market in the hope to attract more investment for further economic growth.

Prime Minister Hun Sen informed Chen regarding EBA status; the government-private sector forum that greatly benefitted investors; and the commitment to protecting Cambodia’s sovereignty.

He requested the Chinese side for support on infrastructure in Sihanoukville, particularly on wastewater treatment; bring in more investment; and import more Cambodian products to China’s markets.
