BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- A 7.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Peru at 4:50 p.m. Friday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter, with a depth of 260 km, was monitored at 14.58 degrees south latitude and 70.05 degrees west longitude, the center said in a statement.
The center initially said it was a 7.2-magnitude quake based on preliminary measurement.
