Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 25 – Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian said that the West tried to mislead the public, exaggerating small issues to make them seem “big” in an attempt to hurt China-Cambodia relations; however Khmer-Sino still work together to achieve fruitful results.

The Ambassador’s statement was made in a courtesy call on Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Tuesday at the ministry.

Foreign affairs minister Prak Sokhonn and Ambassador Wang Wentian considered the fake news “Cambodia allows China to setup naval base in the kingdom’s coastal province Sihanoukville” the bad intention against Cambodia and China, according to the ministry’s spokesman Ket Sophann.

The spokesman quoted Ambassador’s statement, “The West has always misled the public, attempting to harm Cambodian-Chinese relations, but both have worked closely to solve such issue”.

Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn appreciated Chinese investment in Cambodia that brings about interests for the two nations. He also thanked the Chinese government and people for aiding Cambodia.
