(Phnom Penh): The Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) convened its second meeting of 2026 on Monday (Mar. 2) to review proposals for the establishment of two new special economic zones (SEZs) in Phnom Penh.

The meeting was chaired by Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board, and attended by representatives from relevant ministries, institutions, and the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.

During the session, participants examined two proposed SEZ projects. The first was submitted by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, while the second was proposed by Amrita Development Co., Ltd.

The proposed SEZs are expected to strengthen Cambodia’s investment climate by attracting new projects, with a focus on digital technology as well as the clustering of agro-industrial processing, food production, packaging, and research and development activities.
