(BSD City, Indonesia): Oknha Vann Sokheng, founder of the 25-Province Cambodian Products Market, has called for stronger business ties between Cambodia and Indonesia, particularly in Preah Sihanouk province, as part of efforts to boost investment, job creation, and exports.
The Cambodian tycoon led a delegation of about 25 Cambodian entrepreneurs to the 40th Indonesia International Trade Fair, held from October 15–19, 2025, in BSD City. The event brought together exhibitors and buyers from 130 countries, showcasing Indonesia’s industrial and economic potential under the theme “Discovering Indonesia’s Excellence: Trade Beyond Borders.”
“There are also many Indonesians in Preah Sihanouk province,” said Oknha Vann Sokheng. “So it is an opportunity for us to participate in this fair to seek partnerships, especially with the aim of attracting Indonesian investors to invest in our province to create more jobs and boost exports.”
Vann Sokheng expressed optimism that expanding Cambodian production could help increase exports to Indonesia, while also generating local employment and reducing reliance on imported goods and migrant labor.
The 40th Indonesia International Trade Fair featured 1,619 exhibitors and 8,045 registered buyers, divided into three main sectors — Food & Agriculture, Manufacturing & Services, and Lifestyle — with a targeted transaction volume of USD 16.5 billion. The event, organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, continues to serve as a major platform for global business networking and cross-border partnerships.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto highlighted Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral trade cooperation. He noted several initiatives by the embassy, including hosting the “Sousdey Indonesia 2025” trade and tourism promotion event in Phnom Penh earlier this year, and organizing business trips to Cambodian provinces to explore further collaboration opportunities.
As of September 2025, Indonesia ranks 11th among Cambodia’s trading partners, with total trade between the two countries reaching USD 795 million from January to September 2025.
