Vientiane (FN), Oct. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet unveiled the recently launched Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Transit and Logistics System 2023-2033, which includes 174 projects over the next 10 years, with an estimated total investment value of USD 36.68 billion.
The premier spoke on Friday (Oct 11) during the 2024 ASEAN Business & Investment Summit in Vientiane, Laos.
Samdech Thipadei underscored that “Cambodia always adheres to the business model of operandi that is non-discriminative and a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of investment origin, as long as they have goodwill in bringing mutually beneficial relations, supporting Cambodia's growth and sustainable development.”
According to the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Transit and Logistics System 2023-2033, there are four main objectives: (1) expand and enhance the scope and capacity of the transportation infrastructure system, (2) improve the efficiency and effectiveness of transport services and infrastructure, (3) promote and upgrade the infrastructure of the transport network to support national development policies, and (4) strengthen service efficiency and reduce logistics costs.
The Master Plan outlines 174 projects, including 94 road projects, 8 railway projects, 23 river transport projects, 20 sea transport projects, and 20 air transport projects. Additionally, there are 10 logistics projects, 15 combined transport projects, and 4 other projects. These initiatives aim to connect different modes of transportation to logistics centers and include 90 short- and medium-term projects, along with 91 long-term projects.
The total estimated financing required for these projects is approximately USD 36.679 billion. Of this, the short- and medium-term demand from 2023 to 2027 is estimated at USD 19.926 billion, with an average annual requirement of USD 3.985 billion.
