MANILA, Aug. 19 (Rappler) – The Philippines has detected ONE new mpox (monkeypox) case — the first in the country since the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.
The Department of Health says it was reported to the agency on August 18.
This is the country’s 10th mpox case. The DOH said the last mpox case was reported in December 2023.
“All previous cases were isolated, cared for, and have since recovered,” the department said.
