Vientiane (FN), Mar. 25 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed that Cambodia will host the 2024 Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Summit on Development Triangle Area and the second Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Exercise at the end of 2024.
The premier spoke during the joint press conference with Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Monday (Mar. 25) in Vientiane, Laos PDR.
On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that he and the Laotian prime minister discussed measures and mechanisms within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks to further promote economic growth, peace, development, and common prosperity.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Within the multilateral framework, the Laotian prime minister and I discussed cooperation between the three CLV countries. Cambodia will host the CLV Summit and the CLV Defence Ministers' Meeting, along with the second disaster relief exercise and humanitarian assistance at the end of 2024."
Premier Hun Manet added that Cambodia fully supports Laos as the rotating chair of the 2024 ASEAN Summit and for the role of special envoy of the ASEAN Chair to Myanmar. In this spirit, Cambodia would like to contribute USD 1 million to support the ASEAN Summit and related summits hosted by the Government of Laos.
It should be noted that the CLV Development Triangle, established in 1999 by Samdech Techo Hun Sen serves as a guide for transforming the border area into a region of development and harmonized people-to-people connections. The people of the three countries are on the path towards peace and prosperity together.
The development triangle of the three countries consists of 13 provinces, Vietnam has 5 provinces, Laos has 4 provinces, and the Kingdom of Cambodia has 4 provinces, namely Ratanakkiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, and Stung Treng. This development triangle is a region with vast potential in terms of natural resources and biodiversity.
The Development Triangle (CLV) plays a strategic role as a catalyst for change, connecting our region to a vibrant economic hub that can attract investment and support production networks and supply chains in the Greater Subregion.
