Vientiane (FN), Mar. 25 – The Royal Government of Cambodia granted Lao PDR USD 1 million to support Laos as the rotating chair of the 2024 ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet spoke at the joint press conference with Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Monday (Mar. 25) in Vientiane, Laos PDR.

"I would like to reiterate that Cambodia fully supports Laos as the rotating chair of the 2024 ASEAN Summit and for the role as the special envoy of the ASEAN Chair in charge of the Myanmar crisis. In this spirit, Cambodia would like to grant Laos USD 1 million to organise the 2024 ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings successfully," the premier underscored.

Lao PDR will officially assume the chairmanship of ASEAN from 1 January 2024. This is the third time that Laos becomes the rotating chair of the ASEAN Summit.
