Melbourne (FN), Mar. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation on defence, security, tourism, and infrastructure connectivity on Wednesday (Mar. 6) during a working meeting in Melbourne, Australia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Pham Minh Chinh welcomed each other warmly and happily. The Vietnamese prime minister congratulated Cambodia on the success of the fifth Senate Election, as well as congratulated the Cambodian People's Party on winning 55 seats.

Pham Minh Chinh also conveyed his regards to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and other leaders of Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed the bilateral working meeting with the Vietnamese prime minister once again. Samdech Thipadei considered the meeting as a mean to strengthen the cooperation agreed upon in the past and to continue discussing further cooperation in the future.

Both prime ministers discussed key areas subject to the strengthening and expansion of cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam, including defence and security, tourism, and infrastructure connectivity including expressways like Phnom Penh-Bavet-Ho Chi Minh and others.

Within the framework of the CLV Tripartite Cooperation, the two leaders underlined that the 12th CLV Summit will be held in the coming days and encouraged several ministries and institutions to strengthen and expand cooperation within the CLV framework.

In the field of tourism, both leaders agreed that the Ministry of Tourism should increase dialogue to explore opportunities for boosting tourism growth in the three countries. Additionally, they discussed several issues of common interest for Cambodia and Vietnam.
