OTTAWA, Mar. 4 (TASS) – Canada has sanctioned six more Russians, including Vadim Kalinin, head of the prison in the settlement of Kharp, where Alexey Navalny died, according to data on the website of the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

Another person is Igor Rakitin, head of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service’s office for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Sanctioned were also Alexander Varapayev (born in 1988), Marina Bobek (born in 1986), Yekaterina Frolova (no year of birth given) and Kirill Nikiforov (born in 1992). Their positions were not provided.

It could be presumed that Varapayev is the investigator of the Russian Investigative Committee’s office for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District; Bobek is the former prosecutor of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office; Frolova is the employee of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office; and Nikiforov is the judge of the Kovrov City Court in the Vladimir Region.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly earlier said Ottawa would impose sanctions on Russia over Navalny's death. She said the restrictions would target six Russian officials, including senior officials and high-ranking employees of the prosecutor's office, judicial and correctional services of Russia.

On February 16, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service’s office for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District reported that Navalny died in prison after he felt sick and fainted following a walk.
