Kuala Lumpur (FN), Feb. 28 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Malaysian Senate President YB Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal shared the belief that peace and political stability are pivotal to nation-building and development.
Samdech Thipadei had a meeting with Malaysian President of the Senate YB Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal on 27 February 2024.
During the meeting, Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal expressed his pleasure in meeting with Samdech Thipadei during his official visit to Malaysia. He also congratulated Samdech Thipadei on his appointment as the Cambodian Prime Minister.
Datuk Mutang Tagal commended Cambodia's rapid growth and robust economic progress, exemplified by the construction of several physical infrastructures, including the recently inaugurated Siem Reap Angkor International Airport.
In addition, the Malaysian Senate President YB Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal also requested Samdech Thipadei to share key insights and experiences that have led Cambodia to achieve development and maintain such a commendable economic growth rate.
For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked the Malaysian side for the warm welcome during the official visit and briefed them on the outcomes of the bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Samdech Thipadei underlined his and Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to enhancing and broadening cooperation in vital areas including economy, trade, tourism, education, training, security, and defence.
Samdech Thipadei also briefed the Malaysian Senate president on the preliminary results of the recent Cambodian Senate election. He commended the cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia for contributing to Cambodia's economic growth and expressed gratitude to Malaysia for the valuable contribution of Malaysian Peacekeepers during the Cambodian peace process in the early 1990s.
In response to the Senate President's inquiry regarding the key principles and experiences of Cambodia's economic development and sustainability, Samdech Thipadei underscored that peace and political stability are the most critical factors, essential for sustainable development across all sectors. In the Cambodian context, complete peace, national unity, and territorial integrity stemmed from the implementation of the win-win policy by Samdech Techo Hun Sen which concluded the five-century national division war and facilitated Cambodia's economic growth and development.
The Malaysian president of the Senate agreed with Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet who considered peace as a cornerstone for the nation's development. He further welcomed the prospect of future visits and exchanges between the Senate delegations of both countries.
