Paris (FN), Jan. 15 – Secretary General of Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie Louise Mushikiwabo supported Cambodia to host the Francophonie summit in 2026. She also requested the kingdom to share experience in maintaining peace and stability.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Louise Mushikiwabo on Monday (Jan. 15) in Paris, France.

Louise Mushikiwabo warmly welcomed and congratulated Samdech Thipadei on being elected as Cambodian Prime Minister and highly appreciated the achievements of the Royal Government within 100 days. She wished Samdech Thipadei continued success for the nation and its citizens.

Taking this occasion, the secretary general expressed her support for Cambodia's candidacy to host the Francophonie summit in 2026 and requested Cambodia to share its experience in maintaining peace and stability with French-speaking countries in Africa and other continents, as well as non-French-speaking countries.

In addition, she also requested Cambodia to continue sharing experiences with other countries in terms of economic, tourism, and other crucial missions, as well as the experience of preserving the culture of using the French language.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei mentioned that Cambodia is proud to continue to preserve its heritage as well as its French-speaking culture and to have good relations and cooperation with French-speaking countries.

On the occasion, SamdechThipadei added that in the composition of the new Council of Ministers of the Royal Government in the new mandate, about 40 percent of the leaders can speak French, reflecting that Cambodia continues to actively participate in speaking French in the administration as well as working relations with some countries in the world.
