New York (FN), Sep. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet said that whenever he goes abroad, he tries to seek export markets for Cambodian products in order to boost the national economy and citizens' benefits.
The premier spoke during his meeting with Cambodians living in the US and Canada on 23 September 2023.
"Everywhere I go, I find a buyer. I met with the Chinese premier, the South Korean president, and the leaders of ASEAN countries, to enhance relations and trade, especially our agricultural exports. In China, we negotiate to export rice in order to find a market for farmers. Thus, it can boost the national economy," the premier underscored.
At the same time, when Samdech Thipadei met with leaders from the Philippines, India, etc., he always asked for more direct flights to Cambodia to boost economic relations and attract more tourists.
"Generally speaking, I seek investors not for my benefit, but for Cambodian citizens. This is the duty of the Royal Government since Samdech Tech’s mandates. Although it took 20 hours to fly here, we must make efforts for the benefits of the nation and the people," the premier added.
