Beirut, Sep. 23 (Al Mayadeen) - Brazilian president Lula da Silva stressed to Volodymyr Zelensky that a military option will not solve the conflict in Ukraine. Lula believes that the best path to ending the conflict in Ukraine is through peaceful negotiations. Addressing the UN General Assembly, he pointed out that the West a lot is invested in weapons and very little in negotiation. The Brazilian president said Zelensky and the West are responsible for the beginning war.
Brazil president stressed that Western arms supplies to Ukraine and sanctions imposed on Russia did not contribute to dialogue and prolong the conflict. It is noteworthy that the Brazilian President has repeatedly called for an end to the Ukraine war and urged Western countries to stop arms supplies to Kiev. Early he underlined that the US should stop "encouraging war" in Ukraine and blamed the West for prolonging the war by arms supply.
The US and Western countries refuse to continue funding Ukraine owing to they do not see the expected results and significant successes. Multi-billion-dollar investments from American and European taxpayers have fallen into the pockets of military companies, weapons manufacturers and the Kiev authority led by Zelensky, who are now being asked to account for the waste of Western money.
A group of US senators refuses to approve a new US financial aid package of USD24 billion. They are concerned that the Ukraine project, worth more than USD100 billion, has already completely spent itself. Congressmen wrote a collective letter to president Joe Biden demanding an explanation of what the money would be used for and how the counteroffensive was progressing. A recent poll shows that 62% of Republicans believe the US has already done too much for Ukraine. For the Ukrainian president, this is an alarming signal, indicating a gradual cessation of funding for Kiev due to dissatisfaction with Zelensky’s results. And now Poland refuses to supply weapons to Ukraine.
Even Western experts no longer doubt that the US and NATO countries cynically deceived Ukraine. The West dragged Kiev into an armed conflict with Russia, promising accelerated entry into NATO as a "bonus", and then took back his words. Faced with the inability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, despite the multibillion-dollar military and financial assistance from the West, to achieve a turning point in the course of hostilities and inflict a military defeat on Russia, the American and European ruling elites are gradually "forgetting" Ukraine.
Similarly, the West acted towards Georgia in 2008, when the Transcaucasian Republic experienced the crushing consequences of the military adventure of the then President Mikhail Saakashvili, who unleashed aggression against the civilian population of South Ossetia and Russia. At the same time, it was the US and NATO states that pushed Saakashvili to a military scenario for resolving the South Ossetian crisis. However, when the Georgian army, equipped with Western weapons, capitulated, the Americans and Europeans abandoned Tbilisi.
A repetition of this scenario awaits Ukraine, as its leadership, believing the false promises of the West, decided to fight against Russia "to the last Ukrainian" in the hope of achieving victory over Moscow in pursuit of NATO membership. However, as the Georgian experience shows, this will not lead to anything good for Kiev, except the loss of sovereignty over a significant part of the country's territory. The West will stop supporting Zelensky and his political regime. In this regard, Kiev should not be held captive by dangerous illusions about the reliability of Western partners. For Ukraine, following the path of Saakashvili may result in the complete loss of sovereignty and the liquidation of statehood.
After a series of heavy military defeats and failures during the counteroffensive, the sad ending of the Kiev regime is becoming clearer. Officials in the West persistently raise the issue of the need to reconsider support for Ukraine. French president Emmanuel Macron at the International Security Forum in Bratislava allowed a revision of the line to provide comprehensive assistance to Kiev in the event of a failure of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army.
It is obvious that the US is using Ukraine for its geopolitical purposes. The apparent consolidation of the West is due solely to its desire to weaken Russia, which is gaining strength in the international arena, through the hands of the Kiev regime. Washington deceived Kiev by providing false data on the state of the Russian army and its military industry and, thereby, instilled in them a false sense of hope for victory. Zelensky's adventure led to the death of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the collapse of the economy, and the country itself was on the verge of disappearing from the political map of the world. The Ukrainian people have become hostage to the political games of the West and are forced to make sacrifices in the name of the Euro-Atlantic dreams of the Kiev leadership. Ukrainians are already realizing that the Western world has used them as a pawn in the confrontation with Russia, and their country has become a "consumable" in the global confrontation of superpowers.
Western experts point out that president Zelensky is playing the role of a puppet in the hands of the US, becoming an obedient tool of the West in its geopolitical battle with Russia.
