Beijing (FN), Oct. 23 – China has fundamentally promoted the development of a shared community of mankind, practiced true multilateralism and as well actively demonstrated China’s sense of duty as a responsible major country in sustaining a green development path, Chinese president Xi Jinping underscored at the opening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on 16 October 2022.
In the past decade, China has implemented a number of strategic measures, developed a range of transformative practices, and put in place a series of breakthroughs and landmark advances.
China has pursued a more proactive strategy of opening up, and put forward its major-country diplomacy on all fronts, said Xi.
“We have improved China’s overall diplomatic agenda and worked actively to build a global network of partnerships and foster a new type of international relations,” Xi said, adding that China is also prepared to invest more resources in global development cooperation, in particular, assisting other developing countries in accelerating development.
China always adheres to the foreign policy purpose of maintaining world peace and promoting common development, and is committed to promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, said vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu in a press conference on 20 October 2022.
“China has signed 19 free trade agreements with 26 countries and regions to promote the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" has attracted the active participation of 149 countries and 32 international organizations, and a large number of landmark projects,” Ma added.
With regards to addressing global challenges, China, with its capabilities, has acted as a responsible major country in addressing climate change through integrating the climate response in the national strategy and promoting ecology civilization, according to vice minister of Ministry of Ecology and Environment Zhai Qing in a press conference on 21 October 2022.
“China actively participates in environmental global governance. As a contributor, a participant and a pioneer in a global ecological civilization, we have practiced multilateralism and worked hard to build a global environmental governance system that features fairness, equity and win-win cooperation, making our contribution to the sustainable development of mankind,” Zhai underlined.
“China also showed its support for the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Belt and Road cooperation. Up to now, the alliance has more than 150 partners from more than 40 countries,” Zhai added.
China’s ecological conservation systems have been improved, prevention of pollution has been accelerated, and solid progress has been made in promoting green, circular, and low-carbon development.
