ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (RT) - Islamabad has declared a state of emergency after devastating flooding has now claimed 937 lives, over a third of whom were children, and left an estimated 30mn without shelter.
Horrific footage has spread across social media showing transport links destroyed, streets inundated and buildings destroyed in seconds.
The National Disaster Management Authority confirmed on Friday 34 deaths due to the conditions had occurred in the previous 24 hours, while around 220,000 homes have been completely destroyed with a further half a million badly damaged.
In Sindh province alone, over 2mn acres of crops were wiped out.
