KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Xinhua) - Malaysia Saturday recorded a new high of daily COVID-19 cases for a second day in a row, with 9,353 infections, bringing the total tally to 827,191, the Health Ministry said.
Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 11 of the new cases were imported and 9,342 were locally transmitted.
An additional 87 deaths from the pandemic were recorded in the Southeast Asian country, bringing the total deaths to cross the 6,000 mark to reach 6,067.
An additional 5,910 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries from the coronavirus epidemic in the country to 737,103 or 89.1 percent of all cases.
Currently of the 84,021 active cases, 959 are being held in intensive care and 451 of them are in need of assisted breathing.
