HANOI, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported 30 new COVID-19 cases from 6 p.m. local time Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, including 29 locally transmitted and one imported, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 3,740, according to its Ministry of Health.
The community cases were all detected in northern localities, including 10 in Bac Giang province, nine in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi and six in Bac Ninh province, among others.
Most of the local transmissions are contacts of previously confirmed patients or linked to the clusters of infections in the localities.
The imported case is a Vietnamese citizen who recently entered the country from abroad and was quarantined upon arrival.
As many as 2,657 patients have so far recovered, and nearly 77,700 people are being quarantined and monitored, the health ministry said.
Nearly 959,200 frontliners, mostly health workers, have been vaccinated against the coronavirus by Thursday.
As of Friday, Vietnam had recorded a total of 2,282 domestically transmitted cases, including 712 detected since the start of the latest outbreak in late April, according to the ministry.
