BANGKOK, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has extended emergency rule against the COVID-19 pandemic for a sixth time until the end of October.

The government-run Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, decided on Monday to extend the emergency decree for another month so that it will be further enforced nationwide against the pandemic until October 31, according to officials attached to Government House.

Thailand's emergency rule has been consecutively extended one month at a time with October marking its sixth month.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul commented that future tourists from certain foreign countries, where anti-pandemic measures have been reportedly successful, might probably undergo a quarantine upon arrival in Thailand, which might not last so long as 14 days as earlier required.

However, Anutin declined to comment exactly how many days such quarantine for visitors to Thailand from low-risk foreign countries might last.

Visitors from low-risk foreign countries might be provided a three-month Special Tourist Visa, which could be extended twice for a long stay lasting a maximum of nine consecutive months.
