YANGON, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar has increased to 938 as of Wednesday morning, according to a release from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

A total of 19 COVID-19 confirmed cases including 12 local transmission cases and seven imported cases were reported on Wednesday Morning.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 12 are from Yangon region while the rest are from Mandalay and Tanintharyi regions, Kachin and Shan states, the release said.

On Tuesday, the stay-at-home order was also imposed in seven townships of Yangon region including Thingangyun, Insein, North Okkalapa, Thaketa, Hlaing, Pazundaung and Mingaladon townships where locally transmitted cases were mostly reported.

A total of 157,843 samples were tested for COVID-19 so far and 7,624 patients are currently under investigation, the ministry's figures said.

According to the ministry's figures, 357 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

Myanmar reported its first two positive cases of COVID-19 on March 23 and six deaths have been reported so far.
