NEW DELHI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- India's health ministry Wednesday morning reported 465 new deaths and 15,968 new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 14,476 and total cases to 456,183.
This is the biggest single day spike in terms of new COVID-19 cases in the country so far.
According to ministry officials, so far 258,685 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement.
"The number of active cases in the country right now is 183,022," reads the information.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with chief ministers of states via video conference last week to chalk out the strategy to help the country come out of the coronavirus lockdown.
