BANGKOK, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has offered himself as Thailand's first person to be injected a vaccine against the coronavirus, said a high-level government official on Thursday.
During a recent meeting of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha asked for a volunteer as the first human in Thailand to take the anti-coronavirus vaccine. The public health minister, who attended the CCSA meeting, readily offered to try it out himself, said Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob.
The vaccine, developed by a Thai medical team, was earlier tested with macaques and results were reported as satisfactory.
Saksayam quoted Anutin as saying he was highly confident in the abilities of the medical personnel, who have worked hard to fight the pandemic.
