TEHRAN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian navy ship was sunk after it was targeted by a "friendly fire" in a navy drill in the Sea of Oman, unofficial local media reported on Monday.
Nineteen Iranian navy servicemen were killed after the incident which happened to the Iranian Army's Konarak logistic vessel in the country's waters near the southern port of Jask in the Sea of Oman, official IRNA agency reported.
In the incident which happened on Sunday evening naval drills, 15 others were injured.
Konarak has been towed to the port for further technical investigations, according to the statement.
