BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Apple is recalling some of its 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops sold in the Chinese market due to battery overheating that may pose fire hazards.
Starting June 20, Apple Computer Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd recalled some MacBook Pro Retina models manufactured in mid-2015, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
The recall decision was made after six overheating problems were reported, posing a potential risk of causing a fire, the company said, urging consumers to stop using the affected laptops and promising to replace the batteries free of charge.
About 63,000 batteries were estimated to have the problem on the Chinese mainland.
