Phnom Penh (FN), June 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his Facebook page on Friday morning that, “Apart from the 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Cambodia will continue to enhance friendship and cooperation with many other states, as I have recently concluded my visits to Hungary and Tajikistan.”
Attached with a photo of his granddaughter and himself during his official visit to Hungary on June 13, the premier thanked Cambodian compatriots for taking part in maintaining peace that avails opportunities for socio-economic development.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will lead a high-level delegation to attend the 34th ASEAN Summit from 22-23 June 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, at the invitation of Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and Chair of ASEAN, according to foreign affairs’ press release dated June 19.
The 34th ASEAN Summit, with the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”, will focus on promoting cooperation and strengthening consensus process among ASEAN Members to address new global challenges. The Summit will also explore ways on how to bring ASEAN to a new height for sustainability and seamless connectivity.
The outcomes of the 34th ASEAN Summit would reflect ASEAN’s effort to advance the community-building process, and to promote ASEAN Partnership for sustainable development, among others, to realise enduring peace, stability and prosperity in the region for the benefit of the people of ASEAN.
