Phnom Penh (FN), July 4 – Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China, pledged to provide Cambodia with experience in environmental protection and establish more joint environmental cooperation center, speaking at the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia and the People's Republic of China on Wednesday at the Cambodian Ministry of Environment.

Zhao Yingmin said: "Protecting environment is the most important factor for each country, and China is ready to help Cambodia on environment.”

Zhao said the signing of the memorandum today is to strengthen further cooperation on environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

Zhao visited Cambodia for three days from 3-5 July 2018. The visit focuses on cooperation in environmental management between Cambodia and China. During his visit, he signed three memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Cambodia, including (1) the Establishment of Cambodia-China Environmental Cooperation Center; (2) Cambodia-China Biodiversity Conservation Cooperation; and (3) Water Filter Project Aid.

Say Sam Al, Cambodian Minister of Environment, stated that the signed MoUs will set a clear direction for environmental protection in the kingdom by capacitating officers to implement environmental work effectively and efficiently, and provide accurate information.
