Phnom Penh (FN), July 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Wednesday morning that under the leadership of Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), the Royal Government has no policy to collect tax on farmers' land, and that while the government pushes the industry sector, we also take care of agricultural sector, addressing to nearly 30,000 workers from 18 factories in Kandal Province’s Ang Snoul district.
"Tax on farmer’s land was implemented during the French colonial and the Sangkum Reastr Niyum regime. It happened to Krang Leav village in Kampong Chhnang province. CPP has not taken any tax from any farmers,” stated the premier.
"Our industry policy is aimed at supporting agro-industry, finding markets for our farmers both inside and outside the country,” he added.
Agriculture is a prioritized sector of the Royal Government under the CPP. The Royal Government has also trained many Cambodian farmers on animal animal rearing, but Cambodia further needs more policies for development.
"Countries that focus only on agriculture like Pol Pot regime cannot be rich or developed. We have to consolidate the three main sectors such as agriculture, industry and service sectors. Our country services are expanding like advanced countries, including tourism, banking and so on,” the premier underlined.
