Phnom Penh (FN), July 2 - Grade 12 National Examination of 2017-2018 will have a tougher regulation than the previous year in order to prevent fraud, according to Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), speaking at a press conference on the preparation of high school diploma examination on Monday at the ministry.

H.E. Hang Chuon Naron said that a total of more than 6,000 observers from Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and 30,000 teachers will help monitor the tests.

Hang Chuon Naron confirmed that the restriction aims to prevent students from bringing along cheating materials to the test centers; cheating would result in failing the exam.

He urged the staff, observers, and teachers at all level to be responsible by warning those cheated and misconducted students.

MoEYS has expressed satisfaction with the results of the reforms, as 60% of students passed the exam in 2017, which was only 40% in 2016.

MoEYS will provide the ambulance and the doctors at the test centers to timely assist candidates with health problems on time.

In total of 117,061 candidates will take the 2018 National Examination, to be held on 20-21 August 2018, according to MoEYS.

The ministry added that 195 test centers, divided into 4,716 rooms across 25 cities/provinces of Cambodia are available for students nationwide.

The announcement of the examination’s result will be held on 11 September 2018 for exam centers in Phnom Penh and Kandal province, and on 12 September 2018 for other provinces.
