Phnom Penh (FN), June 29 - Presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of $22 million Flyover Bridge at Chom Chao Roundabout near Phnom Penh airport on Friday, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that there will be a signing ceremony between Cambodia-China to build the third Ring Road in Phnom Penh.
"We are working on the Second Ring Road, and will build the Third Ring Road in the future. We will also have more flyover bridges,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Prime Minister Hun Sen asked for people’s understanding, disturbed by the construction.
Due to the rapid city urbanization, ring roads will reduce traffic congestion in capital and boost Phnom Penh development.
During the premier’s official visit to Japan, he discussed with the Japanese Prime Minister about constructing sky trains connecting Phnom Penh to the Phnom Penh International Airport to avoid traffic jams, following the success on clean water and electricity supplies issues.
Phnom Penh, expanding in double size from 300 square kilometers to more than 600 square kilometers, now encounters three major issues – traffic jams, drainage, and waste management.
