Kampong Chhnang (FN), June 28 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called on people and all workers not to discriminate against HIV-infected workers; encouraged them to prevent further virus transmission, addressing to approximately 21,500 garment workers from 14 factories in Kompong Chnang's Sameakki Mean Chey District, in central Cambodia,
"We shall not discriminate against people with HIV working with us in factories. We need to encourage and protect each other," said Prime Minister Hun Sen.
"By doing so, our factory will become a harmony community. We are not working for just one or two months…," he added.
Prime Minister Hun Sen reminded that peace and employments workers enjoy derived from ending wars through win-win policy, struggling by himself and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)’s supporters who were the ancestors of everyone.
He also called on people to participate in maintaining peace by voting for CPP. He reminded people that peace we enjoy today
By 2017, at least 572 were infected by HIV and that medication had helped 85% of the victims, according to a report from the Ministry of Health.
Among the 58,516 HIV-positive who registered and received treatment at hospitals in Cambodia, 26,855 is male and 3,408 is children aged from 0 to 14 years old, according to the National AIDS Authority.
