Phnom Penh (FN), June 27 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the benefits that workers enjoy, particularly the gradual increase of salaries derived from the diligent work of the ruling party, not by the now-dissolved opposition party, addressing to approximately 25,000 garment workers from five factories in Kompong Chhnang’s Sameakki Mean Chey district, in the south of the province, in central Cambodia, on Wednesday.

“Don't be confused that the increased salaries for workers derived from the protest of the opposition. The fact is that the opposition was dissolved, and the salary still increased; it meant the increase of salary from the beginning is clearly the Royal Government’s efforts,” the premier stated.

"The oppositions requested international community not to aid Cambodia, not to buy goods from Cambodia, not to invest in Cambodia, and when workers protest, they never come to solve," he added.

Cambodian People’s Party, however, has worked to establish factories and enterprises; build roads, canals, and bridges; increase salary and provide other benefits to workers in time of pregnancy.

The premier also encouraged all workers not to create cliques in factories, as it brings disadvantages for everyone.

"Supposed one factory with 2,000 workers has only 50 protest, we have to respect the 50 protestors, but the 50 also have to respect the other 1,950 workers who want to work," he said

From now on, no more gangster cases in the factory. We shall respect the rights of one another, he underlined adding that compromising maintains stability, and builds good rapport between workers and employers that will provide all parties’ mutual benefits.

According to the premier, very few countries in the world could provide 120% of worker’s salary in the pregnancy period. Most countries could provide only 50%.

The Royal Government pays attention to pregnant women and their nutrition, aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality rate and promoting the health of female workers and government officials.
