Phnom Penh (FN), June 25 - It is ridiculous for United States, known to be the father of democracy and human rights, accused Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng of violating human rights while Americans themselves separated young children from their families and cage them like animal, said Chief of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen Ho Sithy in a special interview with Lim Chea Vutha, CEO and founder of Fresh News, on Monday morning.
The statement of premier's cabinet chief was made when the United States launched a brutal campaign to separate young children from their beloved parents who illegally crossed from Mexico into the United States.
Many countries condemned the US's move suggesting that it is a deep emotional separation between mother and child for a long period of time.
He added that the US's act is a serious violation of human rights. Rather, the US, without proper ground, unjustly accused small countries who did not subordinate her as human rights violators.
Sithy compared the US's act to Pol Pot's, separating parents from small children that the world could not accept.
In 35 days from 5 May to 9 June 2018, more than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents, charged of illegal crossing under the new Trump administration's policy, according to Department of Homeland Security. At least 45 kids per day were departed from their beloved families and become immigrants. The move has sparked criticisms from international human rights officials and other countries, but the US has not accepted these criticisms, and recently decided to withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
The Mexican government reacted that the US's decision to withdraw from UNHRC will not make the US free from the responsibility of respecting human rights both in its own country and across the globe.
