Phnom Penh (FN), June 19 – Cambodia is suffering from the current increase of oil prices, caused by reduced production of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen speaking at the honoring titles ceremony of Cambodian Royal Academy on Tuesday morning at Peace Palace; he urged an immediate resolution.

"On the 28 June, I will announce some principles addressing challenge of increased oil prices in our domestic market caused by the reduced production of OPEC,” stated the premier.

According to the price list published by the Ministry of Commerce, gasoline costs 4,200 riel per liter, while the diesel 4,000 riel. This price is much higher compared to 2017 and early 2018.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also called on Cambodian intellectuals to do scientific research to provide inputs to the government in addressing the challenges such as increased oil prices and other issues.
