Bangkok (FN), June 16 — Prime Minister Hun Sen attended the 8th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit (ACMECS) and received the chairmanship to host the 9th Summit in Cambodia.
Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O-Cha was the chairman of the 8th ACMECS on Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand.
Prime Minister admired Prayuth Chan-o-Cha and the Government of Thailand for the remarkable achievements in many areas of ACMECS cooperation.
As the next chairman of ACMECS, the premier is committed to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and mutual benefits among ACMECS to promote peace, stability, and development in the region.
He added that ACMECS priorities will be focused on reducing the development gap and poverty; achieving food security and energy; tourism and infrastructure development; environmental protection; expansion of the industrial production chain in the sub-region and the improvement of people's welfare and socio-economic development of ACMECS.
The premier said that in order to achieve these goals, Cambodia will promote the effective implementation of the Bangkok Declaration and in particular, the ACMECS 2019-2023 plan, focusing on smooth connectivity, consistency, and smart and sustainable development.
Cambodia will continue to push forward the implementation of the Hanoi Declaration and other statements, including projects and initiatives being implemented, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Cambodia must continue to work hard to mobilize resources and encourage development partners to provide technical and financial assistances to implement key priority projects in line with ACMECS 2019-2023.
Cambodia will widen opportunities for the private sectors and promote their role on and participation in the implementation of ACMECS priority projects.
