Phnom Penh (FN), June 15 - Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly considered the US’s Treasury Sanction on Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng, Head of the Prime Minister Bodyguard Unit and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, a wicked politics, believed to be adjured by former leader of opposition party, to attack the army spirit as the general election approached.
“The US’s act intervenes Cambodian internal affairs and that it destroyed the spirit of our army,” the chairman said.
The US should review the past, take a look at the bombs they dropped on Cambodian soil, and take them out of Cambodia.
He called for Cambodians to rise up against the US “wicked trick" to prevent Cambodia from repeating the past mistake.
The chairman's statement was made in response to the US Department of the Treasury's announcement on Tuesday that they sanctioned Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng for being the leader of an entity involved in serious human rights abuse, pursuant to Executive Order 13818, which targets perpetrators of corruption and serious human rights abuse and corruption.
