Phnom Penh (FN), June 13 – Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Cabinet, on Wednesday, released an immediate statement to strongly condemn the US’s Treasury Sanction on Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng, Head of the Prime Minister Bodyguard Unit and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
“The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office sanctioned Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng for being the leader of an entity involved in serious human rights abuse, pursuant to Executive Order 13818, which targets perpetrators of corruption and serious human rights abuse and corruption,” US Treasury wrote on Tuesday.
The premier’s cabinet strongly condemned the US for accusing General Hing Bun Hieng without proper ground.
General Hing Bun Hieng has doing his great job in enforcing law and exercising his duties to protect Cambodia’s stability and order to progress like today.
What the US is doing is an interference into Cambodia’s sovereignty and independence beyond the US’s jurisdiction. We should question the US’s 1970 bombing in Cambodia killing millions of Cambodian people whether it was a human rights violation.
Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Cabinet considered the US’s act an embarrassment and a grave violation on Cambodia without proper consideration.
