Phnom Penh (FN), June 11 - Cambodian Senate approved the four draft laws in the first session of the 4th legislative session on Monday, presided over by Cambodian Senate President Say Chhum on Monday.
The enacted draft laws include the Draft Law on Organization and Functioning of the Council of Ministers; Draft Law on Nationality; Draft Law on the Approval of the Agreement on the Establishment of the Asian Forestry Cooperation; and the Draft Law on Amendments to articles 3, 23, 30, 30, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40 of the Law on the Management and Exploitation of Mineral Resources.
This morning, 59 senators attended the session and 59 voted to approve.
The Senate is a legislative body, composed of 62 members. 58 of the Senate seats are elected every six years by the commune councilors from 24 provinces of Cambodia, the King nominates two Senators, and the National Assembly nominates two, being a total of 62 Senators.
