Kampong Cham (FN), June 11 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, on Monday, urged Cambodian people to end the viral story on Facebook “The Monk, Corn, and Woman” in Banteay Meanchey, as it affects the values of Buddhism and Khmer women.

He also warned to expel two military officers, Pheng Vannak and Khan Chan Sophal, for fueling the story, speaking on Monday at the inauguration ceremony for the official use of the reconstruction of NR6 from Thnal Keng Kampong Cham province to Ang Krong Siem Reap province, with the length of 248 km under China’s preferential buyer's credit loan.

"I urge to end the viral “corn story” on Facebook to protect the values of Buddhism and Khmer women,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

He criticized the two military officers, active on Facebook, Pheng Vannak for interviewing the chief monk, and Khan Chan Sophal for interviewing the girl, thus making the story more viral.

“Buddhism shall not be disgraced by one or two monks, and that the value of Khmer women shall not be humiliated by the wrong conduct of one or two women,” the premier stated.

Recently, Facebook users shared a leaked video of a monk eating corn in a room with the presence of a girl believed to be his lover, which violated Buddhism’s rule. “The Monk, Corn, and Woman” has been trolled and shared all over social media.

Prime Minister also blamed Vannak for interfering into affairs of Siem Reap’s administration in the market issue in Siem Reap.
