Phnom Penh (FN), June 10 - Khmer civilization expert Roth Sondab analyzed Sunday the three political scenarios of the leader of Cambodia National Rescue Movement Sam Rainsy’s accusation the Royal Message a forgery, widely seen as an insult.
First, after the National Assembly election in 2013, His Majesty King invited both the Cambodian People's Party and the Cambodia National Rescue Party to assemble and take an oath at the Royal Palace under his patronage, but Sam Rainsy rejected. Instead, he led his members to take an oath at Angkor Wat presided over by himself. This indicated Rainsy’s intention to switch from the monarchy to the republic with himself as president.
Second, on August 30, 2013, His Majesty issued a royal message to ask Sam Rainsy not to lead any protests to avoid disrupting social security and peace of the people. On the contrary, Sam Rainsy led the protests against the barracks nearby the Royal Palace under an excuse to hold religious ceremony at Preah Ang Dang Ker, a sacred place in front of the Royal Palace, facing Tonle Sap.
Third, Sam Rainsy called His Majesty's royal message a forgery is against the constitutional monarchy regime.
“King's letter urging people to go to vote: a forgery or a piece made under duress and legally worthless,” Rainsy wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
