Phnom Penh (FN), May 8 – India will provide $20 million concessional loan to Cambodia to build electricity transmission line from Tbung Khmum to Prey Veng provinces, Manika Jain, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia told Aun Pornmoniroth, Senior Minister of Economy and Finance on Thursday.
"Since 2002, the Government of India has provided US$112 million in concessional loans to implement a number of development projects in Cambodia, including water pumping stations, Stung Tasal water development project, electricity transmission line project from Kratie to Stung Treng, and Stung Svahab water development project,” the ministry wrote in the press release.
“In the near future, India will provide $20M concessional loans to Cambodia to build electricity transmission line from Tbong Khmum’s Suong city to Prey Veng’s Svay Antor,” the press release added.
The Minister said that Cambodia-India have connected civilizations for a long time and that the diplomatic tie and cooperation including on financial sector of the two nations have been significantly strengthened.
Ambassador Manika said that following the fruitful official visit of Prime Minister Hun Sen to India in January 2018, Indian government has expressed its continuous support to Cambodia in prerequisite sectors as agriculture, education, health and information technology, of which India is highly potential.
She added that many Indian investors are interested and looking for opportunities to invest in Cambodia.
