Phnom Penh (FN), June 7 - In order to achieve his goal in destroying the nation and National Assembly 6th mandate election, Sam Rainsy, leader of Cambodia National Rescue Movement, violated the King's affairs by calling His Majesty's royal message a forgery.
Analyst "Chao Chak Smuk" wrote on Thursday that Sam Rainsy's accusation of the royal message a forgery insulted His Majesty King and could face a punishment of one to five years imprisonment and $500-$2,500 fine.
Chao Chak Smuk added that Sam Rainsy's act revealed his arrogance by standing up against the King and luring His Majesty to involve in politics.
Regarding the royal message, Royal Palace Senior Official in charge of general affairs Kuy Sophal confirmed Wednesday that the Royal Message: “Urging People to Go to Vote” is genuine.
His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, called on all citizens to exercise their free rights by voting in the National Assembly 6th mandate election on July 29, 2018, according to the royal letter dated on May 18, 2018.
"I would like to call on all voters to go to vote for national leader for the development and prosperity of the nation in all sectors,” His Majesty wrote in the letter.
His Majesty added the July’s election is a universal, free, fair, just, equal, and confidential election in accordance with the multiparty liberal democracy; and that no threats nor bullies will happen on anyone or any political party.
The King's message encouraged citizens to vote in the upcoming election and denied the incitement of the opposition.
The analyst said that Sam Rainsy and his partners committed a serious political crime, and that it is not his first time in betraying the King and nation. Relevant institutions shall take action against whoever insults His Majesty to strengthen law implementation and the constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
If Rainsy dared to insult His Majesty, how about the normal citizens? The act of insulting the King by Sam Rainsy is against monarchical regime in Cambodia.
If Sam Rainsy and his group come to power in Cambodia, they will not be afraid to transform the nation from the Kingdom regime to the Republic, as he has a treacherous bloodline, who has always been against His Majesty.
