Phnom Penh (FN), June 6 - Cambodia and Thailand agreed to speed up the official opening of the three new international border gates after both countries established in 2017, according to Chum Sounry, spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFA).
The agreement was made when Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn met with Panyarak Poolthup, Thai Ambassador to Cambodia, on Wednesday.
The new international gateways include: Anses international border gate, connecting Preah Vihear and Thailand’s border; Chub Koki international border gate, connecting Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province and Thailand’s Buri Ram province, and Thmor Da border checkpoint between Cambodia’s Pursat province and Trat province of Thailand.
Thai Ambassador to Cambodia also appreciated the increase in bilateral trade volume of $6.1 billion by 2017.
Both also agreed to balance the import and export of goods between the two nations.
