Phnom Penh (FN), May 6 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen criticized Cambodian Youth Party (CYP)’s policy that claimed to expel illegal immigrants out of Cambodia within eight hours if the party wins the election, addressing to 22,470 workers from eight factories in Kampong Cham Province on Wednesday.
Prime Minister considered the policy set out to attract the vote, and impossible to implement.
"President of CYP Pich Sros claimed to take only eight hours to expel illegal immigrants out of Cambodia. Eight hours? How? Only if we shoot them, but still eight hours is not enough time,” said the premier.
“The policy seems to align with Pol Pot's extremism policy," he added.
In a roundtable discussion on political parties held on May 28, 2018, some people concerned that eight hours is not enough to file the documents, while President of CYP Pich Sros rebutted that illegal immigrants do not require documents to deport.
