Siem Reap (FN), June 5 – Speaking at the 2-day 30th technical meeting at Apsara Authority, Siem Reap from June 5 to 6, 2018, co-chairman of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor) Guillaun Narjollet said that the safeguarding and development of Angkor Archaeological Park has been successful.

Francs and Japan co-chair of the meeting, attended by Phoeurng Sackona, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, including representatives of embassies and experts.

Guillaun Narjollet said that the Angkor has been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List for 25 years, and the whole world as well as tourists are excited about the architecture of Angkor Wat.

He also explained that ICC-Angkor has made numerous achievements since 1993, making Angkor Archaeological Park to be the world's heritage and prominent tourist destination.

On the setback, the growth of the number of tourists has been also a threat to Angkor, so the ICC-Angkor must focus on policy-making and implementation of various measures that enable us to ensure the balance between tourism growth and conservation.

The co-chair of the French Embassy appreciated the efforts of national and international experts that make Angkor an outstanding place to visit.

UNESCO Representative in Cambodia Ann Lemeistrs also expressed satisfaction with the development of the Angkor site and the APSARA National Authority who has carefully considered the challenges that may arise in the Angkor Park.

She also thanked the participants for the last 25 years and hoped that they will continue to work for the cause of Angkor.
